Hi guys

One week later and some cool developments have happened! We finally made our first real performance test on the Switch \o/. Yes, you read it right Oirbo is running on the Nintendo Switch.

It took us a few hours but we were finally able to deploy to it and with this, the final confirmation that Oirbo will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch.

The test had only one purpose, to check the overall performance of the game loading system on the Switch. (We never really doubt that it would run smoothly on it).

Since one of Oirbos main goals is a no loading screen experience we had to test as soon as possible how the console reacted to it, fortunately, not even a frame dropped while loading the Nature area, although it did take a long time to load it (about 20 seconds xD). But since the whole game is still far from being ready to be a fully-fledged Switch game we are almost certain that we will be able to reduce that time to almost 0 or at least work around it.

The rest of the week we continued to work on the Area loading system, right now, the area loading is complete and fully tested, and we are tackling the final details of the section loading (remember that each area has dozens of sections). After this final push, we should have the loading system complete and hopefully, we won't have to worry again if it's possible or not to have a game without loading screens between areas and/or sections.

Jokes aside, this past week we refined Oirbo formula and added some details to the character look and continued working on its animations. We expect to have it complete sometime during this week, just in time for the first round of VFX that we will be adding to Oirbo :D.

This week we are really aiming to close up the loading system and finally getting started with the VFX, time is slipping by but we really want to reach December and start the new medical area, so time to get back to work!
