Oirbo Devlog #48 - Road to Alpha

(Posted originally on our blog)

Hi guys.

Wow, it has been a while since our last devlog XD.

We want to start 2020 with a proper alpha build for you guys, so we started working for it. The first order of business is to finally implement a functional UI, all the game systems are in working order but until now we didn't have an actual UI, besides some dev UI that we used for testing and setting the base requirements for it.

So we started with the so important main menu, there is still a bit of art missing but it's fully functional and anyone can boot the game and start a new run without any dev magic xD.

This one took us some time, this whole week to be exact, since we started fresh and made all the building blocks required for the UI, so from now on the focus won't be as much as the visual components but more on the information and how you will navigate on the UI.

For a full quick preview, this is what you can expect to be done by the time we release the incoming alpha, UI wise at least.

For the alpha, there are only 3 main points that we want to tackle, besides the UI, we need to close off any entrances for other areas (which should be fairly quickly), add the sound to everything that still is silent (like most of the Nature area) and wrap everything up so that you can enjoy what Oirbo has to offer, story elements will be hidden so you will have to wait for the beta to get those but the rest of the content will be all there.

Besides the UI we are working on a few other aspects, mainly our space layer that we are hoping to include on the alpha, you can check it here.

A pretty short devlog to start of the year, we will have more cool stuff to show next week, so stay tuned!
