Oirbo devlog #61 - Demo Experience and Planning

(Posted originally on our blog)

Hi everyone!

It's been a month since our last status update on Oirbo development, we plan to get back on the biweekly devlogs like usual, but June was a total rush to get everything working as expected and quickly act on any bug or issues that we've missed during our QA.

With the demo finally stable, the team decided to finally have task-based planning set up in order to help us track progress and what is missing before we only had a bunch of unorganized tasks scattered around our trello xD.

With our current planning, the game is set to release in April 2021, with clear milestones until then, like a beta testing program for each area of the game in order to test everything as much as possible.

Our main goal right now is to finish the medical area in order to access the game as a whole and start adding a bunch of stuff that we've been postponing for too long, like the actual in-game integration of the visual language (which is ready to be added), the story and lore elements and the first round of performance enhancements. We plan to spend August doing this kind of task so that in September and October we can start and finish most of the mechanical area.

We also decided to maintain the demo online, for the time being, this means that we will support it and maintain it as much as possible until we officially launch the beta testing program.

This week we finally got back to development and completed a big chunk of the med area, next week we should be able to finally get to the boss section and even beyond that, so for the next couple of weeks we will hopefully finish the rest of the med area level design so that we can finally tackle the boss and add the decorations and overall area esthetic.

Besides the level design work, our split/merge enemy is also almost at 100%, we are just playing with some design ideas and the final visual effects for the enemy.

A big thanks for all the support and don't forget to join us on  Discord, Twitter, and wishlist the Oirbo on  Steam, below the usual gif reporting the current progress of the med area!
